About

I am a surface pattern design and textiles graduate with a First Class Honours Degree seeking to advance my career in the world of fashion and textiles. I have a passion for textiles and experience working to brand-lead briefs as well as a background working with trend forecasting, buying and merchandising.
I have a keen eye for detail and I am confident conducting market research and creating sales and colour reports.
I am IT literate and well versed in Microsoft programmes including Excel.
I am an organised self-starter able to confidently operate within teams and as team lead when required. I consider myself conscientious, dedicated and diligent.
Industrial Flourish
As a creative I have always been driven by the unexpected beauty found in plain sight and as I have refined my practice throughout my degree I have found great pleasure in creating textiles that transform a space. With both of these things in mind I began thinking about my home town, Port Talbot, and how the heavily industrialised landscape has a unique beauty that is incomparable to any other place I have been.
The TATA steel works and it’s metal and concrete structures are an ever seen pillar of our community, they can be seen from the M4 motorway, yet another important man made structure that cuts through our town, and therefore are usually the first thing that comes to mind when mentioning Port Talbot. Within this brief I want to redirect the narrative of both of these heavily man made and industrial structures and highlight the beauty in the rugged forms, rather than focusing on the negative connotations such as pollution, that they are usually associated with.

A Journey of Elevation
During my time at University, when given the opportunity to design for Rolls Royce, my chosen brief was sensational depth with my inspiration being taken from the mountains and stars.
Using luxurious flock surface treatments and gold foils to create bespoke pattern from the ground contours and astrological mapping from the release date of the first ever Rolls Royce Phantom, you are taken on a journey of elevation as your eyes trace over the vehicle. Rich leather grains adorned with gold contours add texture to the picnic tables while hand dyed silks with deep black details drape the windows. scattered overhead lighting mimics the glow of the stars as custom made fragrance is lightly defused into the space creating a luxurious and tranquil Place to gaze at the gallery which is layered with hand printed leather and inlayed with diamond stars.

Modern Boudoir
Here I was presented with a brief of 'Modern Art Deco' and upon researching the Art Deco period, I found myself totally inspired by the mass of sweeping curves, sunbursts, stylized wildlife and jagged pointed edges like those seen on architectural marvels like the Chrysler Building. As well as this, classic Art Deco interiors with draped and layered fabrics, rich colour palettes and gold accents were trends that I saw pulling through to present day interior collections.
I took this and created hero prints that played tribute to those traditional Luxe Art Deco features married with coordinating prints that reflected both the modern need for calming design through use of space and a glimmer of Deco luxe with gold accents.

Tea Party At Grandma's
For this brief, entitled “tea party at grandma’s” I explored how traditional, ’vintage’ design elements and techniques could be morphed for a contemporary context and a modern day consumer. I drew imagery from traditional ceramic plates found in my grandmother’s ceramic collection and research the comforting connotations that this kind of design and decor evokes, in order to deconstruct this design and combine it with modern elements to create a quirky and eclectic range of interior products.
Featured within the print is a silhouette drawing of my Grandmother, as an ode to her and the creative flair that she, as well as all the women in my life, have nurtured and encouraged.
